Justin Walker and Pratik Shah are the owners of Justice Inc, a business in Houston that provides intellectual bodyguard services. Traditional bodyguards protect others from physical threats. Intellectual bodyguards protect others from intellectual threats–bad ideas.
Shortly after the COVID pandemic begins, Justice Inc finds itself embroiled in a battle against government officials in both the city and county governments. When the lockdowns destroy the economy, many lose their jobs and can no longer pay their housing costs. City and county officials respond by blaming landlords for the crisis their lockdowns created and enact “renters’ protections.” Housing activists, the media, and the general public support the measures.
Though they have no clients, Justice Inc leaps into the controversy to defend landlords and small business owners. They challenge the claims made by government officials and housing activists, as well as the moral premises underlying those claims, and embark on a campaign to change public opinion regarding “renters’ protections.”
